In 2019, Simon Bower gave up performing stand-up comedy due to panic attacks and other mental health issues. After a period full of study, growth, a diagnosis or two, losing friends, finding love and learning to dress himself, he returns over six years later to explain why he's incredibly proud to be a quitter with 'Sometimes Give Up'.
Simon Bower has delighted audiences in sold out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Canberra Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival, and his writing for popular comedy websites such as Hard Drive and Cracked has been viewed by millions around the world. He was also most improved on his under 11's cricket team.
Now, in his long-awaited solo show debut, Simon pokes fun at the hypocrisy of the hyper persistent: taking aim at steadfast stalwarts like Winston Churchill and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and pointing out how they were big ol' quitters too, whilst weaving in personal stories and observational comedy that he delivers with disarming honesty and a sly grin. Sometimes Give Up is a hilarious, earnest and maybe even inspiring hour of stand-up about how losers never quit, and quitters never lose.
