This privacy policy outlines the personal information handling practices of the Canberra Comedy Company Pty Ltd (trading as Canberra Comedy Festival). The size of the Canberra Comedy Festival means that it is not bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. However, the Canberra Comedy Festival has regard to them in the provision of its services.

We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to produce the Canberra Comedy Festival and other comedy performances in Australia.

Anonymity
Where possible, we will allow you to interact with us anonymously or using a pseudonym (i.e. social media). However, for activities such as ticket sales, we usually need your name and contact information in order to ensure you receive all the necessary information about the show, including any updates to performances.
Social Networking Services
We use social networking services such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to communicate with the public about our comedy productions. When you communicate with us using these services we may collect your personal information, but we only use it to help us to communicate with you and the public. The social networking service will also handle your personal information for its own purposes. These sites have their own privacy policies.
Advertising information
We may track your response to our advertisements, emails and content, determine your ability to receive HTML-based email messages, learn how many users open an email and allow our service providers to compile aggregated statistics about an email campaign that we are running. This information may be shared, only when anonymised, with third parties to assist them in understanding the performance of advertising in our Services.

In the course of producing the festival and other shows, we may collect personal information about you indirectly from publicly available sources or from third parties such as ticketing agents operating on our behalf. Unsolicited Information
If Canberra Comedy Festival receives unsolicited personal information, the Festival will determine whether or not, in the normal course of business this information could have been collected if solicited. USE OF DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Canberra Comedy Festival collects information from individuals to inform its operations and to identify how to best market its products and services and to whom. 4) to send you additional materials relating to us and services that may be of interest to you (including any upcoming shows that we think you might be interested in);
5) to provide your updated personal information to our staff, our contractors, artists or producers, or third party service providers; noting that in regard to us providing such information to artists or producers, we are the authorised agent of such artists and producers and are required to provide your personal information to them for predominantly operational purposes under our existing contractual arrangements;
6) to investigate any possible breaches by you of any of our terms and conditions;
7) to verify your identity;
8) to detect and prevent fraud and unauthorised ticket onselling; and
9) to otherwise provide you with effective customer service.
We also hold personal information which we use and/or disclose for purposes other than our primary purposes (“secondary purposes”). You provide your consent to us using your personal information for the following secondary purposes:

2) business planning and product development;
3) providing you with relevant information, including promotions, about our products and services, the products and services of our related bodies corporate and/or the products and services of our business partners or joint venturers. Some of the parties that we may disclose your Personal Information to include our employees; artists and producers (predominantly for operational purposes); venue operators and promoters of events for which you have purchased tickets (predominantly for operational purposes); related entities; contractors (including authorised ticket resellers and onsellers which is disclosed predominantly for operational purposes); our business partners or joint ventures; our sponsors; promoters of any competition that we conduct via our services; specific third parties authorised by you to receive information from us; and any other body for those reasons described in this policy as needed for them to deliver services to us.
THIRD PARTY WEBSITES AND DIGITAL SERVICES
This Privacy Policy does not cover the information practices of third parties whose websites may be linked to our website or services. We are not responsible for the collection and use of your personal information by such third parties. The third parties referred to may include (without limitation):
1) authorised ticket resellers (including (without limitation) Canberra Ticketing, Street Theatre and Trybooking);
2) third party websites owned or operated by a participating artist or producer;
3) any social media channel (including (without limitation) Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube).
Please refer to the privacy policies and statements of those third parties and obtain information regarding their collection, use and disclosure policies. Certain providers may have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction to either you or us. If you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your personal information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.
DIRECT MARKETING
We may send you direct marketing communications and information about products and services that we consider may be of interest to you. These communications may be sent in various forms, including mail, over the phone, via SMS or via email, in accordance with applicable marketing laws, such as the Spam Act 2004 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth). We will not sell to anyone the information that we collect about you.
As a general rule, if third parties have received your personal information, their handling of your personal information will be governed by their privacy policies. If you wish to unsubscribe from their platforms, you will need to contact them directly.
CROSS-BORDER DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Canberra Comedy Festival does not normally disclose personal information to overseas recipients other than performers or agents with who the Canberra Comedy Festival has a contract which includes disclosure of personal information such as email addresses for marketing purposes.
QUALITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Canberra Comedy Festival takes such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure that the personal information the organisation collects, uses or discloses is accurate, up to date, complete and relevant to the organisation’s functions and activities. Changes to personal information are usually received directly from the individual or via a bounced email.

Access to personal information is restricted to Canberra Comedy Festival staff and volunteers that are directly responsible for the purposes related to the collection of the personal information.
ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION
Canberra Comedy Festival will give an individual access to the personal information the organisation holds about them in the manner they request and within 14 day after the request has been received unless:
Canberra Comedy Festival reserves the right to charge the individual a reasonable fee for the provision of personal information.
If Canberra Comedy Festival refuses an individual access to their personal information, the reasons for that refusal will be communicated to that individual in writing.
